About
Rebecca has worked as a proofreader for nine years and as a project manager for four. Her specialist knowledge is in the arts and research.
After gaining a BA Hons degree in English Literature and History of Art from the University of London, Rebecca spent many years working with some of London's leading art institutions.
In 2014, she decided to combine the skills and knowledge she had gained with a continued love for language embarking on a career as a professional proofreader and copy editor.
Rebecca has worked with clients on a wide range of projects including academic publications, theses, educational literature, manuscripts, children's books, poetry books and financial and company reports.
Rebecca is based just outside Saffron Walden in Essex.

Working to your specific personal requirements, Rebecca offers a flexible editing service that incorporates recognising and correcting errors in grammar, punctuation and spelling; streamlining layout and design, ensuring objects including graphs, images and tables are properly aligned; checking contents pages and appendices are correctly inserted and numbered; addressing any inconsistencies in tone, style and content; checking web links direct to the correct pages and navigation tabs and headings work correctly.
Project Management
Rebecca will oversee the editorial and operational process of a work, ensuring that the project runs to schedule and within budget. She will prepare the files for printing, working in Adobe InDesign, and assist with and advise on the final preparation for print.

To book Rebecca's services please contact her via email or telephone, with a short explanation of your requirements, any deadlines you have and any areas of concern. She will aim to respond with a quote and timescale within 24 hours.
Manuscripts should be sent via email or post. Please note, if sending a hard copy be sure to retain the original. You may want to consider sending your work via recorded / signed for delivery and a confirmation of receipt email will be sent.
When working electronically, Rebecca uses the track changes tool in Microsoft Word, the mark up tool in PDF and comments and edits in Google Slides. When working on paper directly with a typesetter or publisher, she will use BSI approved proofreading symbols. Rebecca will proofread blind or against copy and confidentiality is always strictly guaranteed.
